Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang Entertainment Enters NIL Space!
According to On3, Rapper Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang Entertainment has entered Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals with twenty-five college athletes. The deal required the athletes to promote Khalifa’s “45 Minute Breakdown” track on their Instagram Accounts. Each athlete had to post a clip of themselves dancing while the song played on their Instagram Stories. For the action, the athletes were reportedly compensated an undisclosed amount.
The song was released last month and also features Philadelphia native Lil Uzi Vert. Wiz Khalifa’s Instagram Page
This deal is the first of its kind in that it involves a music label in the NIL space. As someone who loves the intersection of sports and music, I found this NIL deal to be rather interesting and exciting.
Since the NCAA updated the NIL policy for student-athletes in 2021, NIL deals have proven to be quite lucrative. Brands like Chipotle, Bojangles, and more have joined in on tapping in with young sports professionals to help promote their businesses. I’m certain we will see more music artists getting in the NIL space as well.
